“Turkey has a strategic location” is not an investment decision. An advantage becomes real only when it lowers cost, opens a market, shortens delivery time, increases demand or creates a defensible operating position. These ten reasons should therefore be treated as tests, not slogans.
1) Geography and connectivity
Access to Europe, the Middle East, the Black Sea and Central Asia can support manufacturing and distribution. Test actual freight time and cost from your site to your customer.
2) Diversified manufacturing base
Supplier networks and industrial zones may shorten supply-chain setup. Verify that the suppliers you need are within an economic distance.
3) Exports and free zones
Trade and export frameworks can improve a model, but origin rules, customer economics, logistics and customs determine the real margin.
4) Broad incentive ecosystem
Incentives can affect CapEx, taxes, financing and R&D. Count only eligibility that is documented and modeled in cash flow.
5) Research and technology
Universities, technoparks and programs can support suitable projects. Test team capability, IP, customer demand and development budget.
6) Agriculture and food
Diverse output creates processing, cooling and packing opportunities. Test raw material, seasonality, losses, quality and buyers.
7) Green transformation
Energy and material efficiency can become a cost and competitiveness advantage. Start with a measurable baseline.
8) Education and skills
A large labor market creates reskilling needs. Test employer demand and employment outcomes.
9) Urban renewal and earthquake resilience
The engineering need is real and creates a service and development chain, but it is legally and technically sensitive. Test building rights, planning and full cost.
10) Multiple entry points by capital size
Turkey offers opportunities from service businesses to factories and major property development. “Best” only has meaning after matching budget, management capacity, risk and liquidity.

- Does the advantage reduce cost or raise revenue?
- Do you have local data for the exact site?
- Are currency and financing risks modeled?
- Is the exit plan clear?
- Is the incentive confirmed or merely assumed?
